Isles Bathroom Remodel

Chris and Betsy have an older Vermont farm house that was in need of a bathroom remodel.  When they came to the Vermont Pro Construction team they were interested in an extensive overhaul top to bottom, with one goal .... a classy southwestern inspired bathroom.  Done!

The bathroom was completely gutted and turned into a thing of beauty.  Over the course of the project a new ceiling height was projected, new duct work and insulation was installed, new subfloor laid ... complete with radiant heating, and freshly sheet-rocked.

Isles .... continued

The customer had great tastes and not a single part aspect of this project went overlooked.  From the special order terra-cotta floor tiles to custom order victoria and albert bath this project oozed class!  The tub certainly deserves a special note as it is quite the work of art.  The Ravello Tub, by Victoria and Albert, is a volcanic limestone tub that is designed to be light weight and retain heat three times longer than a porcelain or cast iron tub.

Since completing the project the customers have told us how much they love the bathroom, and we at VT PRO look forward to them enjoying it for many years to come.  Thanks Chris and Betsy

A Distressed Finish

New and clean is not always as nice as you think.

A distressed look, or antiquing, can go along ways in bringing an added dimension to your work by giving it age and character.  With this particular project installing a new threshold to match the existing look I have taken a 5/4 piece of clear pine with a knot and "distressed" it.  Since the client's current flooring is old pine, which is a softer wood, I took the time to scan the house and match some similar wear and tare patterns and marks in my new threshold, think about what dings you might see in a threshold with 100 years of use!  One little trick that I have picked up over the years is when you are looking to replicate an aged pine look Minwax's Golden Pecan stain on new pine can quickly achieve a desirable look ... you will have to decide how many coats it will take based on lighting in the room.
